Kelley & Joshua's Colorful Coastal Wedding in Scituate, Massachusetts
A picture-perfect summer day on the South Shore set the stage for Kelley & Joshua's unforgettable Scituate wedding. From a charming seaside Airbnb to an emotional first look at Scituate Lighthouse and a lively reception filled with nonstop dancing, every part of their day reflected who they are as a couple—joyful, welcoming, and completely in love.
The morning began at a beautiful seaside Airbnb where Kelley spent the morning getting ready with her closest friends and family. The bright, coastal home was the perfect backdrop for the start of the day. While the bridesmaids got dressed, I photographed all of Kelley's carefully selected details out on the airy wraparound porch, where the natural light made every image feel soft and timeless.
When it was finally time to step into her gown, Kelley's mom helped zip her into the dress before those final finishing touches came together. Once she was ready, Kelley made her way downstairs for a first reveal with all of her favorite ladies. Their reactions were filled with excitement, happy tears, and huge smiles. We stepped outside onto the porch for a few portraits, although her adorable nephew briefly stole the spotlight before all eyes returned to the stunning bride.
From there, we headed just down the road to the iconic Scituate Lighthouse for one of the most anticipated moments of the day.
With plenty of locals and tourists enjoying the beautiful summer afternoon, Kelley & Joshua shared their first look surrounded by the charm of the historic lighthouse and the ocean beyond. Josh looked incredibly sharp in his white tuxedo jacket, and the bright pink boutonniere perfectly complemented Kelley's vibrant bouquet. The two couldn't stop smiling as they finally saw each other for the first time.
After the excitement of the first look, I guided them behind the lighthouse into a quiet, shaded spot where they exchanged private vows. It was one of those moments that reminds me why I love photographing weddings so much. Filled with laughter, tears, heartfelt promises, and a few quiet jokes only they could understand, it gave them a chance to slow down and simply be together before the rest of the day unfolded.
Once the private vows were complete, we gathered everyone together for family portraits and wedding party photos before spending a little more time capturing portraits of just the two of them along the coast. With the formal photos complete, it was time to head to the venue and prepare for the ceremony.
The forecast had threatened rain throughout the day, but thankfully the weather had other plans. Although a few dramatic clouds rolled overhead, the rain held off and the outdoor ceremony couldn't have been more beautiful.
Officiated by Kelley's Uncle Bob, the ceremony struck the perfect balance between heartfelt emotion and lighthearted laughter. Family and friends watched as Kelley & Joshua exchanged vows, laughed through happy tears, and beamed with excitement when they were finally pronounced husband and wife.
As they made their way back up the aisle, their smiles said it all.
One of my favorite little moments came immediately afterward when the newlyweds hopped onto a golf cart for a ride across the property. Away from the excitement of their guests, they enjoyed a few quiet moments together with champagne and hors d'oeuvres, soaking in the fact that they were finally married before we snuck away for a few more portraits.
While Kelley & Joshua enjoyed those private moments together, their guests mingled during cocktail hour with colorful signature drinks, delicious bites, and plenty of laughter. Friends and family who had traveled from near and far gathered to celebrate the newlyweds, making the entire evening feel warm and incredibly personal.
As everyone found their seats inside the reception, the wedding party made their grand entrance, followed by the newly married couple. Rather than waiting, Kelley & Joshua flowed right into their first dance, inviting all of their guests to surround the dance floor and celebrate alongside them.
Josh then shared a sweet dance with his mother. Since Kelley's late father couldn't be there for this milestone, she honored his memory with a beautiful dance alongside her uncle before inviting everyone onto the dance floor to join them. It was an emotional tribute that perfectly reflected how deeply loved and supported the couple is.
Heartfelt toasts from Kelley's mother, Josh's brother, and Kelley's sisters had everyone laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next as they shared stories of childhood memories, growing up, and the journey that eventually brought Kelley & Joshua together.
After dinner, it was time to cut the cake, share another sweet moment together, and officially open the dance floor for the celebration everyone had been waiting for.
And what a party it was.
The live band kept the energy high from the very first song, with the lead singers weaving through the crowd and encouraging guests to sing along. One guest completely surprised everyone by grabbing the microphone and absolutely belting out the lyrics, instantly becoming one of the highlights of the night.
Just when everyone thought the celebration couldn't get any better, Kelley slipped away for a quick outfit change before returning to the dance floor in a fun white mini dress with her hair pulled into a playful ponytail. The crowd erupted, the dance floor filled back up in seconds, and the party continued well into the night.
Kelley & Joshua, thank you both for trusting me to document such an incredible day. It was an honor to witness every laugh, every tear, and every joyful celebration alongside your family and friends. Your wedding was the perfect reminder that the most memorable celebrations are the ones filled with genuine love, meaningful moments, and people who simply can't wait to celebrate you.
