Simona & Igor’s Spring Wedding at Tupper Manor | Beverly, MA

There’s something truly special about photographing a wedding at Tupper Manor—and Simona & Igor’s day was a perfect reminder of why I love this venue so much.

I’ve had the pleasure of working here several times, and with six weddings on my calendar at Tupper Manor this year, it’s safe to say it holds a permanent place in my heart. The historic architecture, the grand staircase, the intricate details—it all creates such a stunning backdrop that even the simplest décor feels elevated. It’s timeless, elegant, and effortlessly beautiful in every season.

Simona & Igor’s wedding, deeply rooted in long-standing Jewish traditions, was truly one for the books.

Simona looked absolutely breathtaking in her silky, sleeveless gown. Her hair was swept up with a soft curl left loose in the front, adding just the right touch of romance. Her bouquet was filled with bright, colorful blooms—a nod to spring—despite the classic New England surprise of snow still covering the ground outside.

Their first look took place in the grand foyer, one of my favorite spots in the entire venue. Igor stood waiting at the base of the staircase as Simona slowly descended toward him. With a gentle tap on his shoulder, he turned—and his jaw quite literally dropped. It was one of the sweetest, most genuine reactions I’ve ever witnessed. They lingered in that moment, soaking it all in, before exchanging handwritten letters. In the most perfect reflection of their connection, they both laughed as they realized they had written nearly identical words to one another.

Just before we transitioned into the next part of the day, something incredibly special happened. As we were wrapping up family portraits on the staircase, two of Simona & Igor’s dear friends walked through the doors—to everyone’s complete shock. After an exhausting journey involving planes, trains, and automobiles, they had made it out of Israel and arrived in Boston just in time for the wedding. The room instantly filled with emotion as hugs, laughter, and a few tears were shared. It was one of those moments you simply can’t plan for—pure, heartfelt, and a true testament to how deeply loved these two are.

After that special moment, we moved into the first of many meaningful traditions: the ketubah signing. The ketubah is a beautifully written marriage contract, but more than that, it’s a deeply symbolic and emotional moment. Surrounded by their closest family and witnesses, Simona & Igor signed this document together—formally and spiritually committing to one another in accordance with Jewish law. It’s a quiet, intimate pause in the day, full of intention and meaning. Once signed, the ketubah would later be displayed beneath the chuppah during their ceremony.

From there, the energy shifted in the most joyful way.

Igor and the men made their way downstairs for the tisch—a lively, celebratory gathering filled with music, laughter, storytelling, and a few drinks to keep spirits high. It’s one of those moments where you can truly feel the excitement building, a room buzzing with anticipation for what’s to come.

Upstairs, Simona shared something equally meaningful. She spent time with her closest female family members and friends, offering blessings and heartfelt moments of connection. It was calm, emotional, and deeply rooted in love and support.

Soon after came the bedeken—one of the most beautiful and symbolic moments of the day. Surrounded by their community, Simona and Igor reunited as music and singing filled the space. Igor gently lowered the veil over Simona’s face, a gesture rooted in modesty, devotion, and a love that goes beyond the physical. The room felt full—of energy, of history, of something bigger than just the two of them.

From there, guests were invited to take their seats for the ceremony.

The ceremony itself was filled with meaningful traditions and personal touches. Simona walked down the aisle and, upon reaching Igor, circled him seven times—a powerful ritual symbolizing the creation of a new home together, protection, unity, and the completeness of their bond.

There were beautiful readings from close friends and family, woven with moments that felt so authentically them. Simona & Igor are naturally affectionate and playful with one another, which led to some laughter throughout the ceremony as they came very close to sneaking in a kiss before the official moment.

That long-awaited kiss finally came after the breaking of the glass—a defining moment symbolizing both the fragility of life and the enduring strength of their marriage. One kiss under the chuppah… and another joyful dip kiss as they made their way back down the aisle as husband and wife.

During cocktail hour, Simona & Igor chose to step away for a few quiet moments together upstairs—something I always encourage and love when couples do. In the middle of such a fast-paced day, it gives them space to just be together, to take it all in. Meanwhile, their guests mingled, laughed, and celebrated below, surrounded by thoughtful details. Table markers highlighted meaningful places in the couple’s lives, while pops of blue and vibrant spring tones brought warmth and personality into the space.

As cocktail hour came to a close, guests gathered for introductions and the couple’s first dance. It was a beautiful, emotional start to the evening—and quickly transitioned into one of the most fun parts of the night: the hora. Simona & Igor were lifted high above their family and friends, laughter and music filling the room. Soon after, their loved ones joined in—parents, siblings—all sharing in the joy of being quite literally lifted up by their community.

The celebration continued with the shtick, where friends and family surrounded the seated couple, dancing and presenting playful props and inside jokes. It was personal, hilarious, and full of so much love.

Dinner brought heartfelt speeches, with a particularly thoughtful touch—programs at each table featuring the speeches written in two languages, allowing every guest to fully experience the words being shared. One of the most touching surprises of the night came from Simona’s father and brother, who performed a song for the couple—an unforgettable moment that had everyone completely captivated.

After a quick cake cutting, the dance floor reopened with parent dances—Simona sharing a beautiful moment with her father, and Igor bringing the energy with a fun, Pulp Fiction-inspired dance alongside his mother.

And from there… the party truly began.

The dance floor was alive all night long—complete with a live saxophone player weaving through the music, adding an electric, unforgettable energy. Simona & Igor were right in the center of it all, surrounded by their people, fully present, soaking in every second.

Those are always my favorite kinds of weddings—the ones where the love is undeniable, the traditions are honored, and the joy is felt by everyone in the room.

Simona & Igor, your day was nothing short of incredible. It was an honor to witness, to document, and to celebrate alongside you both.
