I've known Phaidra for quite a while, we grew up in the same town and I went to school with her big sister. I actually hung out with my husband for the first time because Phaidra's sister was hanging out with him - and they met up with me and a friend of mine. After that first time hanging out, he asked me out on a date and we've been together ever since.
Phaidra was pregnant during this pandemic, lost her father after a long battle with cancer during her pregnancy, and is now tasked with raising her daughter in these crazy times. She hasn't had it easy.
Fortunately, she was blessed with this adorable, happy baby Wren. I had the pleasure of meeting Wren while taking some newborn & family pictures last year when public parks slowly started allowing visitors.
Phaidra wanted some family photos this month to celebrate Wren turning one, and of course I was so excited to do that for her. Not only were we going to do family photos, but I also had the idea of capturing some photos of Phaidra nursing her daughter. I know that breastfeeding has been such an important part of motherhood for Phaidra, and that she would want to capture these moments now as Wren is being introduced to all sorts of foods and may soon wean off the breast.
Time goes by so fast at this age, it goes by in a flash. Though the breastfeeding journey can be extremely difficult and frustrating, it's also so rewarding and beautiful. I'm so glad I was able to capture these moments for Phaidra and her family to look back on for years to come.
Here are a few of my favorites from our sunset family session in Gloucester, MA.
