Katie & Justine’s Intimate Boston Wedding: Rain, Romance & Petal Showers

All week long, we were glued to the forecast. The clouds loomed, the radar teased us, and we braced ourselves for another soggy weekend — (now as I write this, we approach the 13th rainy one in a row as wedding season kicked off). But in true New England fashion, the skies had their own plan. Just as I pulled up to Katie & Justine’s cozy home for getting ready photos, the rain held back, and their wedding day unfolded just as beautifully as the love they share.

Inside, anticipation buzzed through the air as each bride slipped into their wedding attire. There were sweet moments with their families and two tender first looks — one between each bride and her father — that instantly brought tears to everyone’s eyes.

Soon after, we all boarded a party bus bound for the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain. If you’ve never been, imagine winding paths, sweeping willow branches, and tucked-away greenery that feels like your own private garden in the middle of the city. It was along one of these serene willow paths that Katie & Justine exchanged vows, in a heartfelt ceremony officiated by a close friend, surrounded by their immediate family — and, of course, their beloved dog Judy, who took her role as guest of honor very seriously.

One moment that took everyone’s breath away: just as Justine walked down the path with her father, a violinist (a surprise from Katie) began to play. And right on cue — not rain, but a magical shower of flower petals rained down from the trees above. It felt like nature was celebrating with us.

After the ceremony, we captured a few family formals and spent time with the newlyweds, wandering through the arboretum for some relaxed portraits among the lush spring blooms.

The celebration continued with another joyful ride into Boston’s Seaport, where dinner, drinks, and dancing waited at Woods Hill Pier 4. The venue’s waterfront views set the perfect backdrop for golden-hour cocktails and heartfelt moments. Each bride shared a special dance with her dad before taking the floor together for their first dance as wife and wife.

As the sun dipped lower, Katie & Justine snuck away to share private vows by the water — an exchange filled with laughter, love, and a few happy tears. The evening wrapped with oysters, cake, a few thoughtful gifts, and a room full of joy.

It was an honor to witness this day from start to finish. Katie & Justine, thank you for letting us be part of something so personal and intentional. From the first look to the last dance, your love is a reminder that even under cloudy skies, magic is always possible.
