Heather & Alex's Timeless and Elegant Wedding at Tupper Manor | Beverly, MA
I get to meet a lot of sweet couples, but Heather and Alex are truly two of the kindest people I've had the pleasure of working with. From the moment you meet them, their warmth is contagious. Heather is this tiny, adorable little thing with the brightest smile, and Alex is every bit as sweet, polite, and attentive, with a smile to match. The love these two share is so genuine, and getting to capture their wedding day at the beautiful Tupper Manor in Beverly, Massachusetts, was such a joy!
Their wedding was the definition of timeless elegance. Think sleek black dresses, classic tuxedos, white florals, glowing candlelight, and a stunning bride in a gown that couldn't have been more perfect for her. Everything was thoughtfully put together, and the historic estate provided the most beautiful backdrop for it all.
A Timeless Wedding at Tupper Manor
If you've followed my work for a while, you probably already know how much I love photographing weddings at Tupper Manor. Located on the picturesque North Shore of Massachusetts, this historic mansion is filled with old-world charm, grand architectural details, beautiful grounds, and elegant spaces that make every wedding feel special.
Honestly, Tupper Manor is one of those venues that doesn't need much decorating to be absolutely stunning. The architecture speaks for itself, but when you pair it with a timeless black-and-white color palette, lush white florals, and the soft glow of candlelight, it's perfection.
Heather and Alex embraced that classic elegance beautifully. They chose to keep their wedding party intimate, with Alex's brother standing beside him as best man and Heather's best friend as her maid of honor. Of course, Heather's closest girlfriends still dressed to coordinate in gorgeous black silky dresses. They weren't technically bridesmaids, but let's be real... they basically were! Haha!
The entire look was sophisticated without feeling overdone, and every little detail complemented the beauty of the estate.
Getting Ready at the Estate
The morning began upstairs in Tupper Manor's beautiful bridal suite, where Heather was surrounded by her closest girlfriends, her mom, and plenty of champagne and laughter. The atmosphere was relaxed and full of excitement as everyone prepared for the day ahead.
Before Heather stepped into her gown, we headed out onto the balcony for some fun photos with her mom and bestie in their adorable matching pajamas. I love incorporating these little moments into a wedding gallery because they're such a fun part of the story. It's not just about the beautiful portraits later in the day, but all those moments leading up to them.
And then came the dress!
Heather looked absolutely stunning in her sleek, timeless wedding gown. The simplicity of the design was so elegant, and it suited her perfectly. With her beautiful smile and the excitement of the day written all over her face, she was glowing.
Once she was ready, Heather shared a first look with her dad. It was such a sweet, emotional moment, and one of those interactions I always feel so lucky to witness and capture. We followed that with a few family portraits before preparing for the ceremony.
Meanwhile, downstairs in the billiards room, Alex was getting ready with the guys. They enjoyed some time shooting pool, sharing laughs, and getting those final details in place. Alex looked incredibly handsome in his classic tuxedo, and after a few portraits indoors, we headed outside for some family photos before the festivities began.
A Romantic Indoor Wedding Ceremony
Although we had a beautiful fall day, the temperatures were a little chilly, so Heather and Alex opted to hold their ceremony indoors. And with a venue as beautiful as Tupper Manor, an indoor ceremony is certainly nothing to complain about!
Their florist created an absolutely gorgeous floral arch at the altar, filled with beautiful white blooms that perfectly complemented the classic architecture of the space. It was romantic, elegant, and made the most stunning backdrop for their vows.
Heather and Alex decided to skip a first look, choosing instead to see each other for the first time as Heather walked down the aisle.
There's something so special about that anticipation. Alex waiting at the altar, Heather making her entrance, and that moment when their eyes finally meet. With two people who have such bright, beautiful smiles, you can imagine just how sweet that moment was!
Their ceremony was officiated by a close friend, which made the entire experience feel even more personal. He did such a beautiful job sharing their story and celebrating the love that brought everyone together.
The couple also chose to exchange their own personal vows. I always love when couples incorporate personal touches like this into their ceremony. It gives everyone a little glimpse into their relationship and makes the moment that much more meaningful.
Before long, these two were officially husband and wife!
Wedding Portraits Around Tupper Manor
Following the ceremony, guests made their way into cocktail hour, where delicious bites, libations, and some fabulous wedding guest fashion were waiting for them.
Meanwhile, I stole Heather and Alex away for their first portraits together as newlyweds!
We headed straight outside to the iconic fountain, with the grand estate standing beautifully in the background. This is easily one of my favorite portrait locations at Tupper Manor. Between the architecture, the symmetry of the building, and the fountain itself, it creates such a timeless setting for wedding photographs.
And these two made my job so easy.
One of my favorite things a couple can tell me is that they trust my vision, and Heather had shared that sentiment with me. Being given that creative trust means so much, and it allows us to have fun, explore, and create images that feel natural while still capturing those beautiful, classic portraits.
We spent some time around the fountain before heading behind the conservatory for a few more photos. The combination of the historic architecture and beautiful outdoor spaces gave us plenty of variety, even in a relatively short portrait window.
Before wrapping up their portraits, we headed inside to the billiards room for a few fun photos! I absolutely love this space at Tupper Manor. The rich wood tones, classic details, and vintage charm give it such a different feel from the bright, airy spaces throughout the rest of the estate. It was the perfect opportunity to switch things up a bit and capture some playful moments with the newlyweds. I always love mixing those timeless, romantic portraits with something a little more fun!
Once we had captured everything we wanted, I sent these two off to enjoy cocktail hour with their guests!
An Elegant Candlelit Wedding Reception
If the ceremony was beautiful, the reception was equally stunning.
Heather and Alex's reception design was all about understated elegance. The tables were decorated with hurricane candles and simple bud vases filled with white florals. The soft candlelight brought such a warm, romantic feeling to the room, while the clean floral arrangements allowed the beauty of the space to shine.
I especially love when ceremony florals are repurposed throughout the day. The gorgeous flowers that had framed their ceremony were brought into the reception to create a beautiful backdrop for their sweetheart table. Not only is this a wonderful way to get more use out of your floral arrangements, but it also creates a cohesive look throughout the wedding.
The newlyweds were introduced into the ballroom and went right into their first dance.
And WOW... what a first dance!
Heather and Alex had some moves! Complete with twirls and impressive lifts, their dance had guests cheering and watching in amazement. It was such a fun way to kick off their reception and showed off another side of this adorable couple.
Following their first dance, everyone gathered in the conservatory for speeches.
Alex started things off with a welcome and heartfelt thank you to their guests for being part of their celebration. He was followed by three more toasts from Heather's dad, her maid of honor, and Alex's brother, the best man.
The speeches were filled with laughter, some wonderfully embarrassing stories, and plenty of heartfelt wishes for the newlyweds. I love this portion of a wedding day because you get to learn so much about a couple through the people who know and love them most.
After the speeches, everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner.
And can I just take a second to appreciate Tupper Manor's food? Because this is one of the MANY reasons this venue will always be one of my favorites to work at. A vendor meal of filet mignon?! I mean... COME ON! When you're working a long wedding day, a meal like that is definitely appreciated!
After dinner, Heather and Alex headed into the library to cut their wedding cake. I absolutely love this room for photos. The rich architectural details create such a beautiful setting, especially for a classic wedding like theirs.
The couple then shared their parent dances, with Heather taking the floor with her dad and Alex sharing a special dance with his mom. Both were such sweet moments and a beautiful way to close out the more traditional portions of their reception.
A Live Band and an Incredible Dance Floor
Once the formalities were finished, it was time to PARTY!
Heather and Alex had an incredible live band providing the entertainment for the evening, and they wasted no time getting everyone out onto the dance floor.
And as if the evening couldn't get any sweeter, the couple also treated their guests to a custom gelato bar! Such a fun and delicious addition to the reception, and the perfect little treat for guests to enjoy between songs. I absolutely love when couples incorporate unique touches like this into their wedding day!
Before joining the party, Heather snuck away for a quick hairstyle change, transforming her hair from wearing it down into a sleek high ponytail. I absolutely loved this look on her! It was the perfect way to switch things up for the reception while keeping with the timeless elegance of her bridal style.
We were only scheduled to stay for a short portion of the dancing, but let me tell you... we made the most of it!
Between the energy of the band, the excitement of their guests, and Heather and Alex having the absolute best time, there was no shortage of fun moments to capture. The dance floor was full of life, and it was so much fun getting right into the action with everyone.
Live bands bring such a different energy to a wedding reception, and this one was fantastic. Even in the short time we were there, it was clear that everyone was in for an incredible night!
Congratulations, Heather & Alex!
Heather and Alex, thank you SO much for trusting me to capture your beautiful wedding day. From your bright smiles to the way you care for each other, you made this day such a pleasure to photograph.
I hope you always look back on these photos and remember not just how beautiful everything looked, but how incredible it all felt. The excitement, the happy tears, the laughter, the heartfelt words from your favorite people, and all those little moments in between.
A huge thank you as well to the wonderful staff at Tupper Manor, who always make working at this venue such a fantastic experience.
