Shelbie & Kevin | Tupper Manor Wedding | Beverly, MA
Some wedding weekends are memorable from start to finish, and Shelbie and Kevin's celebration at Tupper Manor was certainly one of them.
The festivities began the evening before with a beautiful sacramental ceremony at St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Beverly. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Shelbie and Kevin exchanged vows in a meaningful and intimate church ceremony, setting the tone for an unforgettable wedding weekend.
The following day brought absolutely perfect weather for a coastal New England wedding. Aside from a little breeze, the conditions couldn't have been better. In fact, the rain held off until the very end of the night—I had just settled into my car to head home when the skies finally opened up. The timing couldn't have been more perfect.
From the gorgeous coastal-inspired color palette to the heartfelt moments shared throughout the day, Shelbie and Kevin's wedding was filled with so much love, laughter, and joy.
Getting Ready
The day began at the attached Wylie Inn, where both Shelbie and Kevin got ready with their closest friends and family.
Upstairs in the bridal suite, the bridesmaids gathered around as I put together some flat lays, completely captivated by all of the thoughtful details. Shelbie's bridal accessories deserved a moment all their own. Against a soft ivory backdrop sat a pair of stunning ruby-red shoes, perfectly coordinated with her jewelry: ruby earrings and a ruby necklace that carried a particularly special meaning. The necklace had originally been gifted to Shelbie's mother by her father, making it a beautiful heirloom to wear on her wedding day.
The details throughout the morning felt effortlessly coastal and fun, with touches of blue and yellow, Amalfi Coast-inspired accents, and cheerful lemon details woven throughout. Before the dresses and formal attire came out, we captured some fun pajama photos with the bridesmaids, filling the suite with laughter and excitement.
When it was finally time for Shelbie to get dressed, I had to pause to admire her gown. The sleek silhouette was covered in delicate pearl detailing that shimmered beautifully in the light. Her bridesmaids complemented the look perfectly, wearing a mix of blues and sea greens in varying fabrics, textures, and floral prints that felt right at home against the backdrop of the North Shore coastline.
First Looks
One of the most emotional moments of the day came during Shelbie's first look with her father in the grand foyer of Tupper Manor.
As soon as he saw his only daughter in her wedding gown, the emotion was written all over his face. He was especially touched when he noticed the ruby necklace she was wearing—the same necklace he had gifted his wife on their wedding day years before. The day before, he had shared that story with Shelbie, making her decision to wear it an even more meaningful surprise.
Of course, Dad had a special detail of his own. Hidden on the inside of his tie was a photo of himself with Shelbie as a little girl—a small detail that carried so much significance and love.
Shortly afterward, it was time for Shelbie and Kevin's first look.
As Kevin turned around to see his bride, Shelbie greeted him with the biggest smile. The nerves that naturally build throughout a wedding morning seemed to melt away the moment they were together. Kevin became emotional seeing Shelbie in her gown for the first time, and she couldn't wait to show off every detail. She gave him a twirl, showing off the elegant silhouette and pearl embellishments while the two shared a quiet moment together before the festivities began.
One of my favorite things about a first look is that it allows couples to slow down and simply enjoy being together. For a few minutes, it was just the two of them, taking in the reality that after all the planning, their wedding day had finally arrived.
Following the first looks, we moved into family portraits in front of the manor before heading behind the conservatory for some fun wedding party photos filled with laughter and excitement.
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place on the lawn in front of Tupper Manor's beautiful fountain, creating the perfect setting for Shelbie and Kevin to officially begin this next chapter together.
The flower girl and ring bearer proudly made their way down the aisle, taking their important jobs very seriously and earning plenty of smiles from guests along the way.
When Shelbie finally walked down the aisle, all eyes were on her. Kevin's expression said everything.
One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was when the couple shared handwritten vows. Their words reflected not only their love for one another, but also the friendship, trust, and partnership they've built together. There wasn't a dry eye in sight as they spoke from the heart, sharing promises and memories that made everyone feel connected to their story.
After exchanging rings and sharing their first kiss as husband and wife, they walked back down the aisle surrounded by cheers from their family and friends.
Cocktail Hour & Thoughtful Details
Following the ceremony, we captured additional wedding party and newlywed portraits before Shelbie and Kevin were able to join their guests for cocktail hour—a luxury many couples don't get to enjoy.
Guests were greeted by several thoughtful personal touches throughout the space. One of my favorites was the couple's photo guest book, complete with an instant camera. The flower girl was especially excited about this station and was determined to take someone's photo, so naturally, I volunteered. She proudly snapped my picture so I could add it to the guest book alongside a note for the couple.
Another charming detail was a collection of recipe cards where guests could share favorite family recipes for the newlyweds to take home—a meaningful keepsake they'll be able to enjoy long after the wedding day.
As we finished up portraits following the ceremony, we experienced one of those moments that simply can't be planned.
A ladybug landed on Shelbie's dress and slowly began making its way up the fabric. Instead of brushing it away, we paused. Shelbie shared that ladybugs have always held special meaning for her and her late grandfather, serving as a symbol of their connection throughout her life.
What started as a small interruption quickly became a quiet, emotional moment. Shelbie and Kevin stood together by the fountain, soaking it all in as the little visitor continued its journey up her gown. It felt as though time slowed down for a few minutes.
Eventually, we continued toward the next portrait location, but the ladybug wasn't quite finished yet. It stayed with us, climbing higher as we walked, creating one of those unexpected wedding-day memories that no timeline could ever account for. Whether coincidence or something more, it was a moment that felt incredibly special and one that Shelbie will undoubtedly remember for years to come.
The Reception
The celebration continued with a grand entrance into the ballroom followed by an impressive choreographed first dance.
The crowd erupted with applause as Kevin lifted Shelbie into the air and spun her around the dance floor, creating a moment that felt straight out of a movie.
Guests then made their way into the conservatory for dinner. The room looked beautiful, with coastal-inspired florals in shades of blue, white, and green decorating the tables. Each place setting featured custom favors assembled by the couple: bottles of oil and vinegar paired with jars of seasoning blends that guests could enjoy at home. Another detail that showcased the couple's creativity was their unique table numbers, made from natural stone pieces displayed on handcrafted wooden stands. Shelbie's father built each of the wooden bases himself, making the table markers not only beautiful but also a meaningful family contribution to the celebration.
Heartfelt toasts followed from Shelbie's father, Kevin's best man, and Shelbie's maid of honor. Each speech offered a different perspective on the couple's relationship, but all shared the same message—just how loved and supported these two are.
Sunset on the Beach
One of the highlights of the evening came when we slipped away for sunset portraits.
We made the short walk down to the beach, where the sky decided to put on a show for us. Soft colors stretched across the horizon while the receding tide revealed a perfect sandbar extending out into the water.
Shelbie and Kevin embraced every moment, laughing together as they walked along the shoreline and ventured out onto the sandbar for some truly incredible portraits. Between the beautiful light, the coastal scenery, and the undeniable connection between these two, it felt like wedding photographer heaven.
Even the walk there and back provided beautiful photo opportunities and a few quiet moments for the newlyweds to soak it all in.
Dancing the Night Away
After returning from the beach and enjoying dinner, the couple gathered everyone in the ballroom for cake cutting and parent dances.
One particularly emotional moment came during Kevin's dance with his mother. After an unexpected surgery just days before the wedding, there had been uncertainty leading into the weekend. Watching her healthy enough to stand beside her son and share that dance carried even more meaning because of everything they had faced in the days leading up to the celebration.
Shelbie then shared a dance with her father before surprising her mother with one of her own. What began as a special dance between mother and daughter quickly turned into an invitation for all mothers and daughters to join them on the dance floor, creating a beautiful moment of connection across generations.
Before opening the dance floor, we somehow managed to squeeze every guest together for one giant group photo—and then the party officially began.
The dance floor stayed packed all night long, with guests singing along, celebrating, and making the most of every song. One particularly sweet moment came when the energy briefly slowed, allowing Shelbie and Kevin to share dances with their grandparents before the celebration kicked back into full swing.
Congratulations, Shelbie & Kevin
From meaningful family heirlooms and emotional first looks to breathtaking sunset portraits and a dance floor that never quit, Shelbie and Kevin's wedding day was the perfect reflection of who they are: joyful, thoughtful, and deeply loved by everyone around them.
It was an honor to be part of such a beautiful weekend and to document so many memories for this wonderful couple.
Congratulations, Shelbie and Kevin. Wishing you both a lifetime filled with love, laughter, and countless adventures together.
